<Swordsmith and sword feature>
Swordsmith Yasuhiro 康宏 (the first), his surname Kobayashi小林 was born in 1924 in Yamanashi prefecture. He entered Akitomo Akiyama's forging work shop where he lerned the basic sword forging skill for few years and left in serch of traditional smithing technique which date back to Nanbokucho and Kamakura period.
His restless quest for the real Katana (strong, sharp and cut anything) had blossomed.
Zantetsuken 斬鉄剣 which clearly show the result of his pursue through Marugitae 丸鍛え(一枚鍛え)technique have been highly admired and respected globaly.
The first Yasuhiro 初代小林康宏 was said to be firm and uncompromising swordsmith who Tameshigiri tested his blades by cutting the steel.

This Zantetsuken 斬鉄剣 was forged by the first Yasuhiro 初代 小林康宏 30 years ago for his relatives as you can see in Mei (which says 小林家重代所持 For Kobayashi family's heirloom) and had been owned by the same family
As Giheiya owner Andy had checked this 斬鉄剣 by holding and stroking in Iai manner, he was really impressed with its excellent balance which is ideal for Iai shinken.
Considering the authenticity of this Katana and the beautiful finishing of the blade and koshirae, it sure is a treasure for Japanese sword lovers.

Shinogi-zukuri,Iori-Mune, Toriizori curvature and the blade top is komine.
This Zantetuken has two Hi(Bohi) which have round end at Habakimoto.

<Hada - Forging>
Itame Hada- rich and tight wood grain patterns and coarse Jinie granule abundantly attaches on the surface.

<Hamon - Temper patterns>
Gunome Midare: Irregurer half -round patterns mixed with crab claws-like patterns which resemble Hirosada's blade while Yo shows up along the cutting edge.
Boshi seems Ichimai- Boshi which turns back to Komaru from slightly inside of Yokote.

<Nakago - Tang>
Nakago is Ubu(not altered) and has Katte yasuri fil marks. End shape is Kurijiri.

<Habaki-Metal collar>
Koshi yujo style one piece of silver base Habaki.

<Koshirae - Mountings>
All fittings are vintage pieces...please check the detail pictures.

Tsuba: Japanese quince shaped iron base tsuba with engraved Kyoto Yatsuhashi design with gold inlay.
Fuchi Kashira: Engraved rabbit-ear iris with gold inlay on polished Shakudo(copper and gold alloy) base.
Menuki: Shakudo base, finely engraved chestnuts with gold iroe inlay.
Tsuka: Jabara-maki with Owari style greyish blue color (Nandoiro) 尾張納戸色 pure silk.
Saya: Kuroro - black lacquere finish with Tsunagi. A spare shirosaya is coming with this Katana.

<Blade Condition>
Polish: Very fine... there is a Hike kizu(light scratch).
Damages: No damages can be found.
