A masterpiece of "Samonji Utsushi 左文字写し"
<Swordsmith and sword feature>
Hizen noKuni Ju Kazuyoshi 肥前国住一吉, real name "Nakao Kazuyoshi中尾一吉" was born in 1939 and lives in Saga prefecture.
He learned sword forging under his swordsmith father "Tadatsugu 忠次" who was a disciple of "Toshihide Horii堀井俊秀" and has won 2 excellent awords, 2 Shorei prises and 4 Doryoku prises in Shinsakuto exabition.
His sincere pursuit of reviving the "Kamakurta Ichimonji", "Minamoto no Kiyomaro" "Hizen noKuni Tadayoshi" resulted in forging less number of blades (the record says that he forged 60 blades in 12 years) thus gained a high profile as a distinguished swordsmith.
This sword is a (**)"Samonji Utsushi 左文字写し", his masterpiece creation which shows its very moist Tmamahagane texture and dazzles with its brilliant Saka Choji Hamon.. Defenetaly a collectible item for real Japanese sword lovers.
(**) 左文字(Samonji) early Nanbokucho period (1333-1350), smith Samonji 左文字 who was famed as the most skilled maker appeared in Chikuzen in Kyushu. Samonji learned technological innovation of genuine Soushu method from MASAMUNE 正宗.
This nickname of Samonji comes from the habit of signing his swords with the single character “Sa” (左), short for his given name “Saemon Saburo.” Samonji signed the “Sa” character on his swords and this is an interesting habit of his and somewhat unique to his school.
Shinogi-zukuri,Iori-mune, this slightly thick blade has Nakamine top and its curvature is Torii- sori..
<Hada - Forging>
The vibrant jihada (body of the sword) is a tightly forged Koitame (small wood grain patterns) and coarse Jinie granule attaches abundantly on the surface.
<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is brilliant Saka Choji 逆丁子 which represents the Samonji school's traditional Hamon and excellently forged Ji(sword surface between the shinogi and the hamon) and the Ha(cutting edge) shows their incredible brightness.
Also Ashi are stacked abundantly in the yakiba reaching deeply toward the edge.
Boshi (shape of the temper line at the top) follows the temper line and turns back to Komaru.
<Nakago - Tang>
Ubu (not altered) tang with Kiri Yasurime file marks and Kurijiri shape end.
